KYC including Aadhaar is important for all the
EPF and
UAN related services.
EPFO authority has directed that linking of
AADHAAR number to
EPFO account is mandatory now and it provided various benefits to the employees like they can get their EPF corpus without the signature of employer, hassle free claim of
PF amount, EPF balance gets automatically transferred to bank account, etc.
Thus, every EPF member should update their KYC including Aadhaar/PAN/BANK with the UAN database of the EPFO. Employees
AADHAAR number is very useful and mandatory to link with
EPFO account.
EPFO has made the process of uploading
KYC document very easy. Now employees can upload/update
KYC online. The traditional method of ‘
KYC update’ goes through the employer and it takes lots of time. But now you can complete the process of uploading
KYC online within few minutes. Lets first discuss what is
KYC and what are the document required for it?
What is KYC?
The full-form of KYC is ‘Know Your Customer’. It is a method which is used for proper identification of a person by an organization. It is mandatory process for every person who goes through any financial transaction or linked with it. Employees have to go through this process for banking and investment. Employees are required to prove their identification and address with supporting documents like identity proof and address proof. For this purpose Aadhaar is most useful KYC document.
Documents Required For KYC at UAN Portal
There are several documents which are used for KYC process. However, the EPFO accepts following documents.
- Bank Account
- PAN
- Aadhaar
- Passport
- driving License
- Voter ID card
- Ration Card
- National Population Register
Steps To Link Aadhaar and KYC documents to EPFO account:
1- To link your
Aadhaar in
EPFO database, Employees have to login at
UAN member portal from below link. Please note that you can login at
UAN member portal only after the
UAN activation.
2- On the
UAN portal dashboard menu, you would see a tab on upper-side "
Manage". Click on Manage tab, in the drop-down menu, select "
KYC".
3- You would see a form available to update
KYC documents. You can update or submit any of the document through this form. Now enter the document number and name as per the document. You have to also submit
IFSC code in case of bank account number.
The passport and driving license requires expiry date as well.
Please provide correct information.
4- After the submission of details you will see uploaded document details in Pending section.
EPFO will send your document information to the employer for employer. After the approval by the employer the new
KYC document or
Aadhaar is added in
UAN database. Thus, you may require to give the copy of
KYC document to the employer. To speed-up the process of approval you can send email to your
HR department.
